This community-driven initiative is the result of collaboration between the Leawood Foundation, the Leawood Historic Commission, local veterans, and civic organizations.
Honoring Service
The Leawood Foundation is proud to announce the creation of the Leawood Veterans Memorial, located at the courtyard in front of City Hall. This meaningful memorial will serve as a lasting tribute to all veterans - past, present, and future - recognizing their sacrifices in times of war and peace.
Educational Legacy
The memorial will also serve as an educational space, providing opportunities for all ages to learn about America's journey to freedom and the role of veterans in shaping our nation. It will host educational programs, military reunions, and observances of military holidays, fostering community connection and remembrance.
Historic Connections
Designed by PLAID Collaborative LLC, the memorial has been thoughtfully planned to honor Leawood's deep-rooted connections to veterans across all eras of service - from Civil War homesteaders and WWII servicemembers to the many who have served in conflicts and missions since. Today, Leawood is home to nearly 1,500 veterans.

Any donation under $1,000, the donor will receive a photo of the memorial.
With a $1,000 gift, the sponsor will receive recognition on the founding sponsor wall at the site and a photo of the memorial.
With a $2,500 gift, the donor will receive recognition on the founding sponsor wall at the site and a photo of the memorial.
With a $5,000 gift, the donor will receive recognition on the founding sponsor wall at the site and a photo of the memorial.
With a $10,000+ gift, the donor will receive recognition on the founding sponsor wall at the site and a photo of the memorial.
